Review and become familiar with University Emergency Operation Plan.

Review and become familiar with the KU Pandemic Response Plan.

Develop a unit specific response based upon the Pandemic Response Levels that includes:

1. Taking the necessary steps to reduce the risk of exposure to influenza and implement appropriate controls/ measures:
   1. Encourage those who are sick to stay home.
   2. Keep furniture/equipment/work surfaces clean and disinfected.
   3. Do not share equipment (phones, desks, computers)
   4. Minimize group contact in the workplace.
   5. Avoid close contact with others—try to maintain a separation of at least six feet.
   6. Provide tissues/trash receptacles and places to wash/disinfect hands.
   7. Provide appropriate personal protective equipment *
      * Assistance provided by Environmental Health & Safety in accordance with OSHA Guidance on Preparing Workplaces for an Influenza Pandemic.
2. Determining if you have been identified as a response unit, essential service and/or emergency unit.
   1. If yes:
      1. Identify essential functions
      2. Identify essential staff
      3. Necessary alterations to delivery systems for continuation of service
      4. Identify essential supplies
         1. Determine stockpile levels
         2. Identify at least three potential vendors for each necessary supply
   2. If no, develop a plan for the closure of services that includes:
      1. Protection of resources/assets/data.
      2. Ability to provide services remotely.
3. Planning for succession/redundancy of authority and tasks.
4. Identifying and confirming:
   1. Internal decision makers and dependencies.
   2. External decision makers and dependencies.
5. Confirming communication systems (and backup systems) with:
   1. Staff
   2. Decision makers/dependencies (internal and external)
6. Training of staff/faculty.
7. Planning for recovery and resumption of service that include:
   1. Communication systems
   2. Roll out of services
   3. Recall of staff
   4. Collection of necessary resources
